Metta Woodlands Home for the Disabled
2025-2026
Dews of Joy supports Metta Woodlands Home for the Disabled through volunteer visits that bring companionship, care and meaningful interaction to residents with intellectual disabilities and special needs.
The initiative reflects Dews of Joy’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting social inclusion. Through hands-on volunteering, our team hopes to create moments of warmth, connection and joy for residents who may have limited opportunities for social interaction outside their care environment.
Each visit is designed to combine practical support with genuine companionship. Volunteers assist with simple caregiving needs, support activity participation, spend time engaging with residents, and help create a welcoming and inclusive environment. These small acts of care — whether helping during mealtimes, facilitating games, or simply spending time together — can bring comfort, dignity and a sense of belonging to the residents.
Beyond one-off activities, Dews of Joy hopes to encourage a culture of compassion and community involvement. By creating opportunities for volunteers to interact directly with persons with special needs, the project also helps deepen understanding, empathy and respect for individuals with different abilities.
17 May 2026

On 17 May 2026, Dews of Joy volunteers visited Metta Woodlands Home for the Disabled for a meaningful day of service, interaction and companionship with the residents.
During the visit, volunteers supported the residents in practical and thoughtful ways. The team helped prepare food by carefully cutting meals into smaller pieces, making it easier and safer for residents to enjoy their food. This simple act of care reflected the importance of paying attention to the daily needs and comfort of each resident.
Volunteers also spent quality time with the residents through a lively and interactive bingo session. The game created an opportunity for residents to participate, respond, laugh and interact with the volunteers. With encouragement and assistance from the team, the session was filled with cheerful moments and warm engagement.
Beyond the planned activities, the visit was centred on companionship. Volunteers took time to interact with the residents individually, offering patience, encouragement and friendly conversation. These moments helped create a caring and inclusive atmosphere where residents felt seen, supported and valued.
The visit reminded us that meaningful service does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, small acts of kindness — helping with a meal, sharing a game, or simply being present — can bring joy and comfort to others. Dews of Joy is grateful for the opportunity to spend time with the residents of Metta Woodlands Home for the Disabled and remains committed to supporting the community through purposeful volunteer initiatives.
